Where we started
Concrib began more than 20 years ago — when Martin Silec founded “Concrib Retaining Walls” in 1984. The company was one of the first in Australia to supply and install crib wall and sleeper wall systems.
Concrib has been providing retaining walls, erosion control systems and soil stabilization systems ever since.
Our continued and stringent adherence to the highest standards, throughout the manufacture and installation processes, laid the foundations for the solid reputation for exceptional service and quality, which we still enjoy today.
What we do
As time passed, we changed our name to Concrib and added several new systems to our range. This enabled us to provide solutions for a wide variety of projects including those requiring:
- Concrete crib walls
- Concrete sleeper retaining walls
- Gabion and rock-mattress structures
- Rock-fall netting protection
- Segmental geo-grid reinforced retaining walls
- Interlocking concrete block protection systems for bridge abutments, boat ramps, channel lining, etc.
We offer a complete range of professional services, including design, construction, and certification (of the highest standards) as well as design advice and budget planning services to consultants, engineers and contractors.
Who we are
We have a team of more than 50 people, which engages in large-scale turnkey projects (approaching $2 million) — primarily in South East Queensland, but also overseas as far afield as Brunei and Malaysia.
Our team comprises:
- Working company directors with combined experience of over 70 years in the design, supply, and construction aspects of this industry.
- Site supervisors with the right knowledge, experience, and attitude to maximise performance, quality, efficiency and safety.
- Permanent site labour personnel who know their jobs, and, with consistency in employment, reflect a consistency in high work standards.

Meet our directors
Martin Silec, Managing Director
After completing his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) at Qld. Institute of Technology in 1978, Martin spent 8 years working in the precast concrete industry. During this time, he gained valuable experience in design, construction and sales, which assisted him in setting up his own pre-cast company, Concrib Retaining Walls, in 1984.
Allan Botha, Construction Manager
Allan completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering and commenced his career in South Africa, where he worked as a site engineer on a variety of civil construction projects. After immigrating to Australia in 1993, he specialized in the design and construction of earth stabilization systems, before joining Concrib, as a Director and Construction Manager, in 2001.
David Watson, Sales Manager
David gained 12 years of experience working for Hume (Pipe Division) in NSW and ACT, before moving to Brisbane in the late 1980’s to work for Precast Concrete. He joined Concrib, as a Director and Sales Manager, in 1997.
Grant Sigston, Business Development Manager
Grant completed a certificate in Civil Engineering and has since gained many years experience in the civil engineering field. His areas of expertise include soil stabilization, erosion control and geosynthetic products, with an emphasis on sales and marketing. Grant initially became a Director of Concrib in 2001, undertaking contract sales and marketing on an adhoc basis. In 2007, he officially joined the Concrib management team as Business Development Manager.

We’re committed to staff development
Concrib offers extensive on-the-job training from registered outside training organisations, and career development paths are established in collaboration with all employees.
We also host seminars for employees that cover a variety of topics, including financial planning, first aid, drug and alcohol abuse, and skin cancer.
We provide a broad-based training and development program to ensure our team is fully equipped to provide you with the very best quality workmanship.
Here’s what our founder and director, Martin Silec, says about the hands-on approach and continued commitment to staff development that set Concrib part from its competitors.
“Every member of our team of working directors has an engineering background, which gives us a unique insight into the challenges involved in all aspects of the business from design through to delivery and installation.”
“As engineers we take a hands-on approach. Our technical expertise enables us to understand the issues our clients face. We can talk their language and we can be proactive in finding solutions.”
“At the same time, we are experienced business owners and, as such, we understand how important it is to invest in the personal and professional development of our staff.”
